Wika's innovative technology for the deaf receives investment from Maryland venture capital fiRM

The Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO) congratulates its incubatee, Wika Media (internationally known as Vernocular), for receiving a pre-seed investment from a Maryland-based venture capital firm. Wika Media's mission is to bridge the accessibility gap for the Filipino Deaf community through their innovative technology. Wika Media is set to revolutionize the way the Deaf community in the Philippines consumes media by providing access to audible content in their first language - Filipino Sign Language (FSL).

Wika Media's products enable deaf Filipinos to enjoy the same level of entertainment as their hearing peers, with access to TV shows, movies, videos, games, and other audio content using FSL. In addition, Wika Media's platform empowers anyone to upload accessibility content, such as sign language and captions, making it accessible to a wider audience. This funding is a significant milestone for the startup and a preliminary validation that what they are doing has potential.

With their recently acquired investment, more exciting developments from the startup are expected. The AIPO is proud of Wika Media for its unwavering dedication to creating a more inclusive society by breaking down barriers and promoting accessibility for all.
