The Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO) hosted two community events in celebration of the Philippine Startup Week (PHSW) 2022, a nationwide celebration organized by the QBO Innovation Hub and three government agencies: the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) for the purposes of showcasing Filipino startups, connecting them to other founders and investors, as well as inspiring future technology entrepreneurs.
The first event was titled, "Sustainability Connect" and was held onsite and was streamed online from CTC 413 on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 2:00 - 5:00 PM. Startup founders were gathered to discuss in front of an audience to discuss their challenges and key learnings in navigating through their startup journey. A talk was conducted afterward by the multi-national project: Strengthening University-Enterprise Collaboration for Resilience Communities in Asia (SECRA) to provide guidance to the participants’ conversations over light snacks and beverages that was served in a common space with the aim of bridging the university-enterprise gap, promoting resilience, and making connections to address their resilience needs.

This hybrid event was hosted by the AIPO, together with the SECRA project through the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability (AIS) and the John Gokongwei School of Management (JGSOM). A total of 48 onsite participants and 202 online viewers were recorded for this hybrid event with stakeholders coming from various sectors outside the university that include sectors in the food-water-energy nexus, health, well-being, human security, materials and infrastructure, social inclusivity, culture and heritage, government, and academe. The organizers intend to do a post-event check up to monitor the results of the networking session and possible collaboration.
The second event was titled, "Scaling Up Innovation" held online on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 4:00 - 7:00 PM. The goal of this event was to equip businesses with the information, tools, and access to services and free assistance to intellectual property matters (patents, industrial design, copyright, trademark, trade secrets) as an enabler for growth and market development. In order to participate in the global value chain, intellectual property is crucial to obtain partnerships, collaborations, and transactions that are essential for startups. This event aimed to grow local heroes into future tech giants who use innovation and technology for the benefit of society.
