Updated: Jun 20, 2023

The Ideation Support Group (ISG) of the Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO) held a Design Thinking Workshop for Filipino inventors. On April 6, 2022, members of the Filipino Inventors Society (FIS) attended a 3-hour long virtual workshop. FIS is a non-government organization that provides assistance and advocates the welfare of patent holder inventors in the Philippines. The training aimed to capacitate innovators by introducing a human-centered way of solving problems.

Design Thinking is a creative process of solving problems based on a human-centered perspective. It revolves around developing understanding of the people for whom the products or services are being designed for. According to a study by the Stanford Graduate School of Business last 2020, Design Thinking training helps not only in building innovators’ creative confidence but also increase ideational fluency and elaboration in divergent thinking tasks.

AIPO offers various training and services as part of its mission, to promote nation-building by providing support for ideation, protection, and commercialization of innovative works that solve society’s challenges.
